SIFTING KNOWLEDGE FROM ACQUIRING TO USING – 21ST CENTURY SKILLS

The project is based on student centered approach aiming to develop their life skills (Social Abilities, Efficiency, Flexibility, Initiative, Leadership), learning skills (Communication, Creative Thinking, Collaboration, Critical Thinking), literacy skills (Information, Media and Technology Literacy), so that they can upgrade their own chances to get a job when graduating.

Erasmus+ is the European Union's program which supports education, training, youth and sport in Europe. Its budget of €14.7 billion provides opportunities for over 4 million Europeans to study, train, gain experience, and volunteer abroad.

Our high school has become a partner in the VET project called ‘SIFTING KNOWLEDGE

FROM ACQUIRING TO USING – 21ST CENTURY SKILLS’ which lasts for two years,

01.09.2018-01.08.2020. The project involves schools from five countries: ‘Agrupamento de

Escolas de Forte da Casa’ in Portugal, IPSSAR ‘P.pi Grimaldi’ in Italy, Colegiul 'Mihai

Viteazul' Ineu in Romania, ‘ONUR ATES ANADOLU’ Lisesi in Turkey and ‘5o GENIKO

LYKEIO KARDITSAS’ in Greece. The target group includes VET students from our high

school with basic English skills.

The project is based on student centered approach aiming to develop their life skills

(Social Abilities, Efficiency, Flexibility, Initiative, Leadership), learning skills

(Communication, Creative Thinking, Collaboration, Critical Thinking), literacy skills

(Information, Media and Technology Literacy), so that they can upgrade their own

chances to get a job when graduating. An added value to our project will be given by

undertaking a pragmatic approach by asking students to apply the gained knowledge in

job-seeking exercises.

Participating in this project will bring multiple benefits to all partner schools. Schools will

expand the VET network of contacts, exchange best practice examples and develop the

school curriculum. Teachers will develop their teaching approach and will broaden their

vision by observing what methodologies and tools are used in other EU schools. This will

enable participants to enhance their ways to organize activities outside classes for VET

students. Partners will have the capacity to build up long lasting collaboration.

The Erasmus+ project will contribute to promote a positive image of our schools and staff.

It is a real proof that teachers are interested in lifelong learning and being updated with the

latest trends in matter of education.
